Maisy the Leg Up Rescue Dog

Maisy dog is our new pet.  Maisy is a rescue dog, part Dachshund and  Jack Russell Terrier… but without the terror.

One evening while strolling along craigslist, Tex and I saw the ad for Maisy. Her story goes like this:

Mazie just arrived

Maisy was in a high kill shelter.  Shelters that are in the outer bay area that do not get a lot of interest for adoptions, Or they do not have the funds to take care of animals for very long.  She was saved by Ingrid from Leg Up Rescue group the day of her euthanasia.  She was in a holding cage that said “Non–adoptable animals”.  In her case because she is very shy.  And shy animals do not adopt out well at all.  Ingrid was there to pick up two different animals, but when she saw Maisy, she rescued her too. I am so glad she did.

To add to the sadness, Maisy was abused and has a scar on her face.  Her tail is also lopped, but it is uncertain if that was an accident or an incident.  She was in foster care for a month and shared the home with a nice man and his dog.

Tex and I responded to the ad thinking that it might be a possibility that we could get to meet Maisy. But didn’t really hold out any hope for it. The evenng of the day we responded, we received a reply and soon, Maisy was here with us!

She is sweet, quiet, and won’t leave our side. All she wants to do is cuddle and be the center of our attention. Ultimately, she is the right dog for us and this right time. Slomo was a perfect little pup, but his path lay elsewhere…saving the happiness of our former neighbors and making their lives exponentially better.

She has already bonded to us and begun to even wag her sad little tail.  She sleeps perfectly still between us. She has Tex wrapped.  She is a good thing :)

Misy dog is our new pet. Many of you know our history with Slomo and his lovely home with Enrique and Yolanda.

Maisy is a rescue dog, part Dachshund and part?  Some say Jack Russell Terrier… but without the terror.
